I have a fews words of advice for any guy who wants to pursue a pretty girl they see out, don't be shy! I have this theory I have been working on for some time now (in the hopes of getting my very eligible brother a girlfriend) and it has even expanded so far as to become a cheesy metaphor so here it goes...
The way I see it bars are the easiest places in the world to meet people, and yet too often I see nice guys in the corner staring and longing for a pretty thing in a skirt that they could easily have if they showed a little bit of confidence. So, I propose to the men out there to make a small investment. It's a relatively painless procedure and it could lead to a major pay off. Are you ready? Send her a drink. See it's very simple. You go to the bar tender/waitress and when you see your pretty lady's drink getting low you suavely refill it. I believe the key to this is not to come off too eager. You should not follow the drink into her hand, but instead maintain your position at the bar and wait. Allow the girl to assess the situation and approach you on her own accord, you might be pleasantly surprised by the results. Now there are a lot of factors leading to her decision (looks, attire, intoxication, friends, and the list goes on) so this plan can end in a number of ways.
1. The Failed Investment: I'm starting of with the worst case scenario for a reason, because I don't think it will happen and even if it does its not even that terrible. Say you send the drink over and still she feels no urge to talk to you. Fine. Don't get mad or embarrassed or even view it as a bad thing, you tried and now you can move onto someone else. Sure you may have lost a few bucks but what's the big deal. It was worth a shot.
2. The Short Term Investment: For some this may seem like the best case scenario while others might disagree but here is goes. She takes the drink and when the waitress points to you and says, "it's from the gentleman at the bar," your target sizes you up and begins the approach to say thanks. You get to talking, get a few more drinks, and then a cab back to your place (unless you and your personality get in the way at some point). You have a successful one night stand, and if that was your goal then congratulations.
3. The Long Term Investment: So everything starts off the same as the short term investment but the ending is different. When she approaches you this time you say something goofy and sincere like "I honestly wasn't sure if that was going to work." You laugh, you talk, you make yourself desirable, but instead of taking her back to your place you get her number and at a later more sober time you ask her on a proper date. Who knows you might even have a girlfriend by the end of it.
Sending a drink will show how smooth you can be and that will peak her interest. Waiting will prove your not overly aggressive, and if she's coming over than she is intrigued which should make you feel confident in yourself. Most girls will see it as a mildly romantic gesture because of it's old-fashioned nature, like something straight out of an old movie, plus all girls like the attention. She's going to be so overcome with nostalgia and shock she'll have no choice but to talk to you!
Well there you go. You have the tools now go make it happen. Remember you'll never get the girl if you don't try!
sincerely your lady wingman,
Liz

Potter Party Problems
This past weekend, a good friend of ours had a Harry Potter Themed birthday party. Being the little HP nerds that we are, this was great news! This event was going to be the highlight of our week. Costumes were obvious... Liz as Ginny, me as Fleur.
After creating our costumes, and butterbeer drinks (recipe to follow), we set out to meet up with friends. Upon entering the party, panic struck in. It was a completely Legally Blonde moment.. no one else was in a Harry Potter costume. Panic again.
Now I am sure everyone has experienced an extremely awkward party moment where they wish they could have 1. been aware of the theme or 2. realized there really was no theme. But no need to worry anyone because just think of us dressed as Harry Potter characters at a typical house party, you will feel better about yourself. Also, if anything like this does happen to you, take a deep breath, causally take off some character based layers, and refill your cup.
What saved Liz and I from complete humiliation though was the Butter Beer. As people may know, when it comes to themes I like to go all out. So naturally creating a authentic HP drink for this "Harry Potter" themed party was a must. The recipe I found was simple yet delicious. All you need is...
Buttershot- Butterscotch Schnapps
Cream Soda
Simply mix the the two to taste and enjoy a creamy rich drink!

What to Do with the Big White Wall
Walls become such an important aspect of college life. They become an object that defines your space and expresses your interests in any way you see fit. Typically when you first find the space you are going to occupy for the upcoming semesters, you are faced with a big, white wall. In my opinion, nothing is worst that allowing that wall to be blank. Whether you are in a dorm room or your very first apartment you should absolutely find a way to fill this space. It can say a lot about you. In our apartment we apparently have a lot say...... and very little wall space left.
Our initial idea for the wall in our living room was to put up a framed picture of a cheesy family portrait. As seen on so many awkward christmas cards, we wanted to dress up wearing matching outfits and pose ridiculously exemplifying our quirky nature. However, like many good ideas this evolved into something much more epic. We kept the idea of the family portrait as a central focal point and surrounded it with a collection of photos we like to call the "Wall of Shame." The wall now consists of 20+ less than flattering photos of ourselves and close friends, that on any given day can make you crack a smile.
You want to make your own "Wall of Shame" you say? Well its simple.
First you need to get a collection of your favorite mishaps from the past. Usually your own photos or Facebook is the perfect resource for this. Now that you have your pictures it's time to look at frames. Use these to reflect your style. Are you sort of an artsy hipster? Try looking around at Goodwill or the Salvation Army for older tarnished gold and silver frames. Are you super sleek? Then the simple black frame is the way to go. Or you could be like us and go for the colorful effect. Target sells six packs of frames for about $8 which is a steal. After you frame your wonderful photos its time to hang them. Since most of the temporary places you will be living in don't appreciate holes in their walls try to stay away from the hammer and nail solution. Command strips work like a charm. If you hang all of your photos in a slightly asymmetrical style it gives your wall the opportunity to grow.
This become a wonderful and funny conversation starter, and also a lesson of what not to do when taking pictures!

I'm So Excited
Hello all!
For the very first post of this glorious blog I would like to introduce the wonderful bloggettes, Liz Bradshaw and Devon Antonetti, and the moment that started it all. One saturday afternoon while slaving under hot florescent light bulbs, squinting at the text of various assigned readings (or in Devon's case waking up from a little cat nap.) Ms. Antonetti looked up and said, "We should start a blog." Immediately the procrastination skills that all college students posses kicked in. Books away, computers out, google up. After typing the simple phrase "how to start a blog", That's So College was born. Our idea is to take all the funny, awkward, creative, and social moments we have gathered in our college careers to help other students to make the most of their precious 4-5 years as an undergrad.
